Which ArtCraft app corresponds to Word or Excel?
WordCraft is the word-processing project. GridCraft is the spreadsheet project. Searching for “artcraft excel” does not mean WordCraft is an Excel editor. Microsoft Word and Excel are separate products; their names here describe the user's intended file workflow, not an affiliation.
The official WordCraft page describes DOCX reading and writing. The official GridCraft page describes XLSX spreadsheets. Those are upstream declarations. We have not tested DOCX or XLSX compatibility in either application.

What counts as a replacement?
Opening a file is the first step. A replacement must also preserve the parts that matter when you save and exchange it. Make a disposable copy of one real document. Compare layout and formulas before editing, save a changed copy, then reopen it in the application used by your colleague.
For a spreadsheet, independently calculate two or three important values. Check dates, decimal separators and blank-cell behavior. For a document, compare page count and fonts and review headers, footnotes and tables. If macros, comments, collaboration or tracked changes are essential, verify them explicitly rather than extrapolating from the format name.

Follow the links from the official app pages to storytold/wordcraft and storytold/gridcraft. Use each project's own release notes and license. A source checkout, desktop package and web archive serve different needs.
